Why do people hire our garden coach?

People come to garden coaching because they’ve had enough of doing things the hard way—or the wrong way. They've tried digging, dumping, spraying, planting, and watching it all fizzle. They’re frustrated. The land isn’t thriving, and neither are they. Deep down, they know the problem isn’t just the soil or the weeds. It’s the whole way we’ve been taught to treat the places we live on.

Some folks are brand new and just want to know where to begin. Others have been at it for years and are still wrestling with the same patch of hardpan, erosion, or deer pressure. Most of them don’t want someone to roll in with a blueprint and a bulldozer. They want someone to walk the ground with them, ask honest questions, and offer real, experience-based guidance. They want to learn as they go.

But here’s the real reason they reach out: they care. They care about what grows. They care about what lives there—above and below ground. They want shade, food, healthy soil, birdsong. They want to stop being part of the problem. And they’re willing to get their hands dirty to do it.

The truth is, the people working in their own yards—on rooftops, along fences, behind garages—these are the quiet revolutionaries. They’re not waiting for laws to change. They’re out there moving mulch and planting seeds, trying to put things back in order. And they’re doing it with almost no support. That’s where garden coaching comes in.

It’s not just advice—it’s a working relationship. It often starts with a walk through the yard and a conversation about what’s working, what’s failing, and what you want from the land. Then we roll up our sleeves and dig in. Along the way, you learn how to read the land: where the water goes, what the soil is telling you, what plants actually want to live there. We teach you how to work with the land, not against it.

That first session often leads to more questions: What if we stopped mowing this slope? Could we plant a meadow? Is this a good spot for fruit trees? And when you're ready, One Nature is there with deeper support—native plants from our nursery, experienced builders who know how to work lightly on the land, and advanced consulting for bigger visions.

Garden coaching is the gateway. It helps you move from confusion to clarity, from good intentions to right action. It’s the beginning of a deeper relationship with your land and with us. And it’s not about perfection—it’s about starting where you are and learning as you go.

We’ve worked with a lot of people over the years who want to do it themselves but need a little expert help along the way. That’s what our garden coaching is for. We send someone to your home—either in person or virtually—to help you tackle your biggest challenges. We teach. We troubleshoot. We plant things together. We leave you better prepared to do the work, and we’re here when you're ready for more.

Coaching sessions start at $300 for homes within 15 minutes of our nursery. Beyond that, we charge a bit more to cover travel time.

All coaching clients get a lifetime 10% discount at our nursery. Because we want to make sure you have what you need to keep going.

This isn’t just gardening. It’s how we begin to repair what’s been broken. One yard, one family, one season at a time.
