Introduction to Plant ID

  • One Nature Garden Center 321 Main Street Beacon, NY 12508 (map)

“Introduction to Plant ID” will be a basic overview of how plants are classified according to biological convention and will include a discussion on the importance of biodiversity and resources for learning to recognize native plants. We will practice using guides to identify plants in class and will explore methods of learning to recognize local flora. This class is intended for people who are entirely new to systems of plant ID, however people of all levels of skill are welcome

“Intro to Plant ID” is also oriented towards adults, however children are encouraged to attend if they are interested or are otherwise able to occupy themselves. Class will be taught in English, is free of charge and wheelchair accessible, and will last 30 to 60 minutes. This class is weather dependent.

Classes are led by Bronwyn Pappas-Byers, garden center intern and Environmental Studies major at Vassar College.
