Welcome Heather Liljengren! Heather has been professionally botanizing throughout the Mid-Atlantic and New England since 2008. As a Field Taxonomist and Supervising Seed Collector for NYC Parks, she has traveled throughout the metropolitan region in search of natural native plant populations. Reading the landscape and delineating plant communities has facilitated an intimate understanding of the northeast flora. She received her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from UMASS Amherst and completed internship programs at the National Tropical Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Her background in design has heightened her awareness of choosing the right plant for the right place, especially in an urban context. Through classes and lectures she has helped to educate and invigorate the community about using native plants in the landscape. In sharing her passion, she hopes to improve the relationship the public and the industry has with native plants.
