One Nature was hired by the Stamford Land Trust to oversee the restoration of two acres of coastal forest along Long Island Sound. We designed and installed a new trail, entryway, and planting plan for the woodlot as part of an overall ecological restoration plan. The plan called for a forest thinning process to create shafts of light that would allow newly planted trees to thrive. Strategic plantings of flowering and evergreen native species alongside the road increased the property’s curb value. Plant species were carefully selected for their ability to survive saltwater intrusion during extreme coastal flooding events.
